Product Introduction

Product Name: NVP (N-Vinylpyrrolidone)
CAS NO.: 88-12-0
Appearance: Colorless to light yellow transparent liquid, with characteristic odor; good fluidity.

Main Properties:

Miscible with water, ethanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents;

Boiling point 148°C (13 mmHg), melting point -15°C;

Flash point 129°C (closed cup), relative density 1.04 g/ml @20°C;

Chemically reactive, easily undergoes polymerization reaction under initiation conditions to form polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP);

Moderate toxicity, irritating to eyes and skin, should be stored in cool and dry place away from light.
Product Standards: Compliant with industrial grade standards (e.g., purity ≥99.5%).

Main Industrial Applications:

Polymer Synthesis

As monomer for producing PVP, copovidone (VP/VA copolymer), crosslinked PVP and other vinylpyrrolidone polymers, widely used in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, food and coatings industries.

Key raw material for synthesizing water-soluble resins with excellent film-forming, adhesive and dispersing properties.

Textile Industry

Used in textile finishing agents to improve fabric softness, anti-static property and dyeing uniformity;

As auxiliary in synthetic fiber spinning to enhance fiber strength and processing performance.

Paint & Coatings

Added to water-based coatings as film-forming aid to improve coating adhesion, flexibility and water resistance;

Used in UV-curable coatings to adjust viscosity and enhance crosslinking efficiency.

Adhesives & Sealants

Component of pressure-sensitive adhesives, providing good initial adhesion and cohesive strength;

Used in hot-melt adhesives for packaging industry to improve melt fluidity and bonding speed.

Petroleum & Mining

As oilfield fracturing fluid additive to adjust fluid viscosity and enhance proppant suspension;

Applied in mineral processing as dispersant to improve ore flotation efficiency.

Electronics Industry

Used in production of electronic adhesives and encapsulants for semiconductor components;

As cleaning agent for precision electronic parts due to its good dissolving capability.

Other Applications

In cosmetics industry as ingredient of hair sprays and styling products for film-forming property;

As reactive diluent in radiation curing processes;

Intermediate in organic synthesis for pharmaceuticals and agrochemicals.
