What Is Clerlinked Povidone?
Pharmacopoeia Name: Clerlinked Povidone
Chemical Name: Crospovinylpyrrolidone, PVPP
INCI/CTFA Name: Insoluble PVP
CAS No.: 25249-54-1,9003-39-8

Properties: white or milky white free-flowing powder, easy to absorb moisture, odorless or slightly odorous, insoluble in water, alkali, acid and commonly used organic solvents, with strong swelling performance and complexation ability with many types of substances.

Application
Due to the high molecular weight and cross-linked structure of cross-linked povidone, it is insoluble in water but can quickly promote the expansion of its network structure and disintegrate when exposed to water, and is widely used as a disintegrant for tablets in medicine, and is widely used as a suspension stabilizer, a complexing agent for pharmaceutical ingredients, and a complexing agent for tannins and polyphenols in plant drugs

Product Category
Crospovidone, also known as crosslinked PVP, is a type of water-insoluble polymer that is commonly used as a disintegrant in pharmaceutical tablets. There are several different grades and classifications of crospovidone, each with unique characteristics and properties. The main classifications include PVPP, PVPA, and PVPPA. PVPP, or polyvinylpolypyrrolidone, is a pure form of crospovidone that is highly water-absorbent and typically used as an excipient for tablets. PVPA, or polyvinylpyrrolidone acetate, is a modified form of crospovidone that is soluble in alcohol and acetone, making it suitable for use in extended-release formulations. PVPPA, or polyvinylpolypyrrolidone acetate, is a combination of the two, offering the benefits of both water-absorption and solubility. In addition to these classifications, there are also various grades of crospovidone based on particle size, density, and other properties, allowing it to be tailored to specific formulation needs. Overall, crospovidone is a versatile and widely-used excipient in the pharmaceutical industry.
