VA 64 is a white or yellowish free-flowing powder with a faint characteristic odor and almost no taste. It dissolves easily in all hydrophilic solvents. Solutions with concentrations greater than 10% can be prepared in water, ethanol, isopropyl alcohol, methylene chloride, glycerin and propylene glycol. It is insoluble in ether, cyclic, aliphatic and alicyclic hydrocarbons. It provides an erodible, immediate-release matrix. It is a solubilizer, dispersant, crystallization inhibitor and matrix former for direct compression, roller compaction and wet granulation. It is suitable for markets with higher humidity.
