Polypyrrolidone is widely used as an excipient for pharmaceutical preparations:

Catalyst preparation:
As an active agent to stabilize colloidal particles, it is used in the preparation process of core-shell catalysts.

Polypyrrolidone can be used as a gelling agent for tertiary oil recovery to improve the oil recovery rate of the oil field. As an auxiliary agent of photosensitive materials, it helps to reduce the degree of latex and enhance the coverage of the developed image. Used as thickener, dispersion stabilizer and adhesion regulator in the process of polymer polymerization. As a dispersant in the paper industry, as a co-catalyst in the gasification reaction of propylene amine.The application of PVP in separation membranes, light-curing resins, laser discs, drag-reducing coatings, PVP polymers(K30/K90 grades for pharma binders),PVP-Iodine complexes(Betadine antiseptic precursor),Copolymers(Hairspray/film formers (with vinyl acetate),Photoresists(Semiconductor lithography resins),Adhesives(Radical-cured pressure-sensitive systems),building materials, steelmaking and electroplating is also emerging.
