Taking advantage of PVP's good solubility, solubilization, physiological compatibility, bonding ability and complexing ability, etc., in the field of medicine and health, it replaces adhesives, excipients, coating agents, disintegrants, and cosolvents. , Bactericidal and disinfectant, solubilizer, slow-release agent, capsule shell, dispersion stabilizer, film-forming agent, etc. In some cases, such as the United States, Japan, etc., the dosage and effect of PVP in the medical and health field are shown in Table 6.2.

PVP was first used in drug production in my country in the 1980s. In 1985, Zhejiang Research Institute of Chemical Industry and Hangzhou Minsheng Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. jointly developed a new type of disinfectant PVP-I with PVP as the main ingredient. Later, some manufacturers began to use it.
Vinylpyrrolidone Polymerization9003-39-8 (CAS 9003-39-8) utilizes free-radical polymerization of N-vinylpyrrolidone (NVP). Initiators: AIBN/KPS @ 60–80°C. Controls K-value (12–120) via chain transfer agents. Final product: water-soluble PVP polymer.
